Summary: KangTa is going on his first date

Kang Ta ran excitedly through the halls of his school, unable to wait any longer to see his best friend. He spun around the corner and came to a careening halt in front of Hee Jun who was at his locker taking out books.

Hee Jun merely raised an eyebrow at his antics.

"Hee Jun, Hee Jun!!!"

"Kang Ta, Kang Ta!!!" Hee Jun said, grabbing onto Kang Ta’s arm and jumping up and down, imitating his dongseng to a tee.

"You’ll never guess what happened this morning!!!!" He shouted.

"What?"

"IwasinhomeroomandIwenttogotothebathroomand-"

"Kang Ta! I can’t even understand you, slow down!" Hee Jun said, once again grabbing the excited Kang Ta by the arm and made him stop bouncing.

Kang Ta looked around and saw that by this time they had quite and audience, so he grabbed Hee Jun by the arm and pulled him into a quiet corner.

"Okay, now calm down and tell me what this is all about."

Kang Ta was about to open his mouth when Hee Jun put a hand up to it.

"Uh-Uh. First, deep breath." Kang Ta just glared. "Come on, you can do it." Because he wanted to get this over with, Kang Ta appeased Hee Jun and took a deep breath. He opened his mouth and started again.

"Okay, you know Brian?"

"Brian, hmm….let’s see…the name sounds familiar…"

"Hee Jun! Stop joking around!" Kang Ta yelled, pouting and stomping his foot.

"Okay, okay, but it was a stupid question. He’s only the person I’ve had to hear about for the last four years of my life! You’ve had a huge crush on him since sixth grade."

"Yeah, so today in homeroom I went to the bathroom, and he was there, and he was like, what are you doing tonight, and I was like, nothing, and then he asked me if I want to go out with him to see a movie, and I was like, sure like a date? And he said yes!"

"Wow, congratulations! It looks like your dream is finally coming true." Hee Jun said and gave Kang Ta a hug. Kang Ta just sighed dreamily before staring off into space, a stupid grin on his face.

"Hee Jun, my God help me! I can’t do this, I just can’t! What was I thinking! He’s not going to like me, I’ll mess up! I can’t!" Kang Ta wailed into the phone. Hee Jun on the other line winced.

"Kang Ta, calm down! Now listen to me. This is the chance you have been waiting for. Remember, ever since sixth grade you have been crying that he doesn’t notice you, stalking him, watching him from afar, dreaming about going out with him, and now you finally have the chance. Don’t blow it because you’re too nervous."

"You’re right. I can do this."

"Of course you can. You’ve got everything except self-confidence. Now go out there and get him."

"Ha-ha! Hee Jun, you make me laugh all the time. Can I come over when I get back?"

"Yeah, my parents are out of town, come and tell me all the juicy details."

Kang Ta laughed before getting ready to hang up before Hee Jun’s voice stopped him.

"Yeah hyung?"

"Be careful, okay?"

"I promise."

Kang Ta rung his hands nervously as he waited for Brian to pick him up. He was waiting outside his front door, not wanting his parents to make a big deal about him going on his first date.

He sighed with relief as he saw Brian’s car stop in front of his house. He waited a minute for Brian to come out, escort him there, and open the door for him, and was a little disappointed when Brian just stuck his head out the window and waved for him to get in.

He got in and Brian put a hand on his thigh that very second.

"Hey babe, you look cute."

"Thanks." Kang Ta said, blushing. He gathered his courage and looked up at his date.

"So where are we going?"

"Movies."

"Oh, okay."

"Then I figure we can go to the park." Kang Ta perked up at that visibly, envisioning a romantic stroll through the park, hand in hand under the moon light.

They pulled in front of the movie theater and Kang Ta waited for Brian to order the tickets. Once he was done, Kang Ta smiled at him and started to walk at his side before the ticket manager called him back.

"Excuse me sir, you have to pay for a ticket to go through."

"But didn’t he pay for me?"

"No."

Kang Ta sighed with disappointment as he watched Brian too busy flirting with some girl to even notice him. So he paid for his own ticket, and as it turns out, his own food too.

During the whole movie, Kang Ta was squirming uncomfortably; trying to escape Brian’s wandering hands without being too obvious about it.

He made disgusted faces when Brian would belch from his soda and pick his nose when he thought no one was looking.

By the time the movie was over, Kang Ta was near tears. As they walked back to the car, Brian’s arm around his shoulder, Kang Ta turned to him and said,

"Um Brian? Can you take me to my hyungs house now, I don’t feel so good."

"Now? But you’re missing the best part, when we go to the lake in the park."

Kang Ta flushed at that, realizing that that lake was where everyone went to make out and have sex in cars. He scowled at the disappointed Brian.

"No. I want to go home now!"

"Fine! But don’t think I’m going out with you again. A guy goes through all the trouble to treat you to a nice time, and you act like a major prude!"

Kang Ta really wanted to say something to that, but he kept his mouth shut and got in the car.

The second the car stopped he got out and ran inside Hee Jun’s house, up the steps, and into his room. He stopped at the door and saw Hee Jun sitting on his bed, hugging one of his stuffed animals. He cried out Hee Jun’s name before running into his arms and crying.

Hee Jun didn’t say anything for a long time; he just hugged him and stroked his hair, occasionally kissing the top of his head. Finally, when Kang Ta’s tears died down, he let him go and made him sit up on his own. He dried his tears with his fingers and smiled reassuringly.

"What happened?"

"It was horrible! He treated me like dirt, didn’t even PAY for me, and then he got mad when I didn’t want to give him any! He called me a prude!"

Hee Jun scowled fiercely before hugging Kang Ta again.

"Just forget all about that loser. He isn’t worth your time."

"Thank you Hee Jun. But that was my first date, and it was all ruined! I don’t even like him anymore!"

"Aww, my poor baby. You don’t deserve that. I’ll tell you what, how ‘bout I make it up to you?"

"How?" Kang Ta said, looking up from his spot on Hee Jun’s chest.

"I’ll take you out on a date."

Kang Ta laughed before saying,

"But Hee Jun! You’re my hyung; I’ve known you for like, ever."

Hee Jun tried to hide his disappointment through his laughter.

"I know, but you said you wanted a good first date. So why don’t you pretend that your date with Brian never happened and go out with me, just this once. What do you have to lose?"

Kang Ta considered before he smiled and said yes, still thinking Hee Jun was just joking.

~*~*~

Kang Ta paced around his room nervously, looking at himself in the mirror one last time. He looked at his dress pants and shoes, and the nice sweater he decided to wear for tonight. Hee Jun had called him an hour ago to tell him to dress up nicely for their "date."

He wondered why he was so nervous; telling the butterflies in his stomach to go away, that this was just him and his best friend hanging out again. The butterflies refused to listen.

Finally, he heard the doorbell ring and he ran downstairs to get it. He opened the door and held his breath. There was Hee Jun, nicely dressed in a pair of black dress up pants and a blue button down shirt. And in his hand was a rose.

He smiled and gave the rose to Kang Ta before taking his hand and leading him to the car where he opened the door and waited for Kang Ta to get in before he closed the door behind him. Kang Ta was still speechless. He had never seen this side of Hee Jun before. He looked at his hyungs profile and swallowed hard…he had never seen Hee Jun so…attractive.

"Where are we going Hyung?" He finally asked.

Hee Jun looked over and smiled.

"It’s a surprise, Taya."

They drove on in companiable silence before Hee Jun stopped the car in front of a fancy restaurant. He got out and opened the car door for Kang Ta. They walked hand in hand before Hee Jun let go to open the restaurant door for him. And by the time Hee Jun pulled out his chair for him, Kang Ta was completely enamored.

The whole dinner was absolutely gorgeous and wonderful in Kang Ta’s mind as he looked across the table at Hee Jun. He had completely swept him off his feet. They talked and laughed just like when they were friends, except now there were periods when they would stop and look into each others’ eyes, getting lost in them.

By the time the musicians came over to serenade them, Kang Ta was crying.

After the dinner, Hee Jun once again surprised Kang Ta by taking him to the beach, where they took off their shoes and walked along the boardwalk, staring at the moon, hand in hand.

Kang Ta looked over at Hee Jun and stared before Hee Jun noticed and looked back at him. Kang Ta blushed and looked down at their entwined hands before gathering his courage. He looked back up and saw Hee Jun was still staring, admiring him. With the blush now permanently in his cheeks, Kang Ta said,

"I had a wonderful time, Hee Jun. It was everything I ever wanted my first date to be."
"You only deserve the best Ta. If I had you, I would spoil you all the time, just to see you smile."

"Hee Jun…"

"Yes?"
"Why did you do all of this?"

"I think I made it obvious already."

Kang Ta said nothing and just looked down at the sand again. He then felt Hee Jun let go of his hands and start to walk away dejectedly.

"Hee Jun, wait!" Kang Ta called, running after him.

"What is it?" Hee Jun said, disappointment heavy in his voce as he stopped to let Kang Ta catch up.

Kang Ta took hold of his hand again.

"You left out the most important part of the date."
"And what part would that be?"

"The kiss."

Hee Jun smiled before leaning in to plant a small, chaste kiss on his beloved’s lips. He didn’t remove his lips for a long time, content to have them rest on Kang Ta’s warm ones.

Finally he moved away and smiled, caressing Kang Ta’s face with one hand, holding Kang Ta’s hand in the other.

"Come on, I’ll take you home."

Kang Ta smiled before he kissed Hee Jun on the lips too and walked side by side with his new found love.
